The Humboldt Broncos Lottery of Cash will still be drawing the names of 11 lucky winners as scheduled on April 4th.
After back and forth discussions with the SLGA, and remaining uncertainty if the fundraiser will turn a profit, the Broncos felt it was still best to draw the names as planned and reward the money.
“Currently, we are not quite at a break-even point and regardless of this fact, we will still make the draws on April 4th (deadline April 3rd). We have 11 prizes to draw for, with the grand prize being $100,000. 11 people WILL go home with some much-needed funds in these challenging times,” stated a press release by the Brocnos.
The Broncos will no longer be marketing by calling past buyers to drum up sales, and the radio days leading up to the draw date will all be done remotely. Currently, the Humboldt Uniplex is closed to all public, so there will be no walk-in purchasing and all ticket sales will be strictly over the phone.
“These are exceptional times as we all focus on flattening the curve of COVID-19 and preventing the spread. Many businesses, organizations, groups, etc. have had to alter, postpone, and cancel various functions and/or fundraisers. The Humboldt Broncos are no different as we are in the midst of our biggest fundraiser of the year, our annual Lottery of Cash,”
