The Broncos staved off an early onslaught while their goaltender kept them within striking distance, enroute to a 4-3 comeback victory over the Flin Flon Bombers on the road on Friday Night.

Ty Matonovich picked up his first win of the season stopping 44 of 47 shots, with an especially incredible first period performance which amounted for 20 of those saves.

Humboldt got caught puck watching in the opening frame as over 50% of their roster had never experienced a game in the Whitney Forum. Flin Flon opened up the scoring in the first period, and then doubled their lead in the second with goals from Ryder Ringor and Evin Bossell, respectively. The Broncos were outshot 21-6 in the first.

Following the 2-0 deficit, the game switched, and Humboldt became the hard-nosed puck-pursuing team that was evident through the first three games of the win streak.

Boris Kofman and Kye Benoche, two of the hottest Broncos who are both riding lengthy point streaks (Kofman – 7 games, Benoche – 8 games), helped tie the game in the second.

Jeter Korte opened the scoring in the third with a backdoor tap in for his second goal of the season to give the Broncos their first lead of the game and Josh Sale found the back of the empty net late in the third for a 4-2 lead.

Flin Flon got a late powerplay goal from Carter Anderson as the continued to press to equalize, but down by two goals was too much to overcome.

Humboldt handed the Bombers their 5th loss in a row and 4th home loss in a row.

The Broncos will look to sweep the weekend set at eh Whitney Forum as the two will lock horns again on Saturday.
