Hockey has implemented confidence, teamwork, and many other characteristics in children for many years.
On Thursday, December 12 at the Elgar Petersen Arena a $5,000 cheque was presented to Humboldt Minor Hockey prior to the matchup between the Humboldt Broncos and Flin Flon Bombers. The funds were acquired by the Broncos Memorial Golf Tournament this past summer.
“All funds raised go towards the Humboldt Broncos Legacy Awards Program which will give back to various organizations, projects, youth development, and medical services to honour those affected by the 2018 Broncos tragedy,” said Laurie Warford, administrator and coordinator of the Broncos Memorial Golf Tournament.
This the third of nine donations being handed out by the golf tournament to honour those impacted by the Broncos bus crash. With Humboldt Minor Hockey running a tight budget in regards to funding goes a long way.
“It allows us to make other purchases throughout the year in regards to other programs that are out there,” said Jeff Bunko with Humboldt Minor Hockey.
The majority of the money is slated to go towards a hockey referee and officials clinic to training, coaching, and retaining new officials which will help young officials grow. The remainder of the money will go towards the basic operations of Humboldt Minor Hockey.
The evening was wrapped up with a 5-4 loss for the Humboldt Broncos.
